Five ALive Bassmasters"THE BOOK" says high pressure after a cold front shuts the bass down and they get lock jaw. I'd like to have "THE BOOK" for my financial investments (if I had any money) because it was 100% accurate. This Sunday's tournament on Mercer Lake was a beautiful day for almost any out door activity except for bass fishing.
The temperature rose all day to get to about 80. Not a cloud in the sky and there was just a very mild breeze. We had a great turnout with 21 guys fishing, including one guest. Of that, 6 guys caught 8 fish.

There were a lot of fish caught but most couldn't even be called shorts. They were so small they never made it to the ruler. My partner Bill and I, for example, caught 7 fish each. Not one need to be measured. A couple were to small to be legal trout. The only doubles were Geoff Wagner (2nd) and Rich McCrone. (3rd). The big winner, following his Dad from Carnegie, was Tom Cusmano, Jr. with 1 fish (4.72 lbs.) for 1st. and lunker. Tom got his fish shortly after the start by throwing a crankbait by some bait fish and big mama crushed it. Most of us did the same thing at one time or another during the day but the gods were with Tom. Our last scheduled tournament is on the Delaware River on Oct. 30th.
