We had our tournament on the Main Lake at Assunpink Sunday Aug. 7th and there is a story to be told. 1st., the turn out was not great. We had a total of 15 guys. I think the poor attendance was because Swimming River Bassmasters had their annual tournament on the Manasquan Reservoir and some club members opted to fish that. 2nd., the fishing was sloooow. The water was very murkey. (Pea soup green) Only 7 of the 15 guys caught fish and only two guys got more then one fish (2) No limits were weighed in. I personally feel some of the problem was that the lake had been "pounded" in the last week. We had our open there last week. C.A.S.T. had their Friday night tournament there and Jackson Bass had just left the lake at 1 AM after their tournament so the order of the day was "fish slow" with the exception of Rich Castellano who dropped a 6 pounder at the boat on a spinnerbait. (40 to 50 percent of Richie's "dropped" fish are 6 pounders so you decide) Congrats to the guys who caught fish and to the money winners 1st. Bruce Sax 6.23 lbs 2nd Dave Burket 5.32 lbs. 3rd. Bill Koenigsmark 3.98 lbs. Lunker Bill Koenigsmark 3.98 lbs. View All Results |
