Waywayanda Lake 07-26-2009 PDF Print E-mail
Contributed by John Carey
Friday, 07 August 2009
Five Alive BassmastersFive Alive ventured far from our usual casting grounds to give Waywayanda lake a try. We had temperatures in the low 80's with scattered showers mixed with sun and water temps of 69-73 degrees. The Lake really is beautiful and it was pretty cool to fish amongst black black bears that walked the wooded shores. Fishing was tough. We had 15 guys fish and  although12 caught fish, many had just 1 and only 1 limit bwas caught. Third place went to Chris Press. Always a threat anyware he fishes, Chris tallied 4 bass for 6.98 pounds. I took second place with 8.71 pounds of bass which included a 4.76 pound sweetie that engulfed a senko pitched into deep weeds. On his way to breaking the club record for most 5 fish limits was our first place finisher, Tim Dafick with 5 bass going 9.42 pounds.  I personally loved Waywayanda because I enjoy the scenery and tranquility of such a beautiful lake but the long ride and tough fishing may prove too much to have this lake on next year's schedule. We will see. Five Alive heads back to Carnegie Lake in 2 weeks after our buddy tournament next Saturday, August 1 on Mirror Lake. Chris Press has a vice grip on first place and the Angler of the year title. Can Tim come from behind or will Chris dominate the remainder of the season for his second Angler of the year title in 3 years? Good luck and may the best angler win. Tight lines.
