Five Alive Tournament Trail - 2007/02/02 01:12
[b]I have been examining the schedule for the upcoming season and I still can't get over some of the lakes we will be fishing this year...!
Starting the season off at Union Lake should be perfect...This lake should be in full swing of the prespawn and could possibly be the perfect time to fish it as the fish will be active.
Then we have our first open buddy tournament on Assunpink Lake...This should be prespawn time for this lake also which is perfect...! Should be some big sacks at this one...!
Then my personal favorite...Potomac River! For those of you who fished it last year you know we are in for some fun...! For those of you who haven't you better make plans to be there...! I think it's the second best bass fishing spot in the north second only to Lake Champlain...! The winning sack this year will push 20 pounds...! Don't miss this one you'll be sorry and don't forget to stay at the CAT HOUSE...
Then we swing into the spawn/post-spawn Northeast River...I had a great time last year and I have some knowledge now so look out...!
Then the MEGABUCKS on Manasquan and Deal...Some how I miss this one every year due to scheduling conflicts...I think Dave wants me to miss it...!?!
Then we swing into Farrington Lake which can always be a suprise...I nailed my biggest fish last year prefishing and come tournament time I goose egg...! What's up wit that...Maybe this year...
July is the Mirror Lake CHARGE...! We have another open buddy and then a regular club tournament...Usually the guys who can make it under the bridge win but 2006 I suprised them with a WIN from the main lake. On a topwater bite...Imagine that....!I'm going to defend my win this year...!
Then another lake I've yet to fish due to scheduling conflicts...Carnegie Lake. Maybe this year I'll get my shot.
Then my personal NJ favorite Assunpink Lake...I like the time of year on this one and predict a large sack of 23 pounds to WIN...!
Then we travel north to an old haunt of mine that I used to fish on a regular basis, Monksville Reservoir...Be careful using spinnerbaits along the weed edges fellas, I've nailed some pretty big Muskies up there and the are gigantic...I busted a rod on one...!
Then my favorite smallmouth lake in New Jersey...Merrill Creek...One day the state record smallmouth will come from this lake. Maybe this year.
Then the big waters of Lake Hopatcong. I had a second place finish my rookie year fishing the cove we launched from...Sneeky huh?
Then the best of the best...An open buddy on Manasquan Reservoir...I want this one bad...!
Then a new comer on the schedule, Spruce Run Reservoir. This is a great lake and it should be alot of fun. Lots of structure to explore with roadbeds and foundations from old farms. Should be interesting...!
Then back to the big water and I mean big, The Delaware River...I never fished this so I will be looking to team up with a veteran of the tides...
And finally, last but not least the CLUB CLASSIC on Manasquan Reservoir...I'm hoping to be there for this one...That is the top 20...!
All in all a great schedule for the upcoming season...I have cabin fever already thinking about it. But hey guess what, our first tournament is 52 days away...Better start cleaning your gear and charging your batteries because it will be here before you know it. Sorry this was so long but I can't get over our schedule it's awesome...!

Good post Rich. It was the feedback from the members who created this schedule, well done! I too am looking forward to fishing some of my favorite lakes and new ones as well. I've never been to Monksville, or Spruce Run, but I am looking forward to the challenge. Lot's of good fisherman in our club. 2007 AOY could be anyone. Good luck.

Dave refresh my memory. How far are the rides to the NE and Potomac? Really want to make them this year but won't be able to stay overnight, with the new baby at home and all. Figured I'll leave the morning of if it's not too far.
